Steven & Bethany get engaged..
There’s something lovely about an engagement shoot when there’s no schedule to stick to and no pressure to be anywhere else. It gives a couple the chance to relax, enjoy some time together and get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day arrives.
That’s exactly what we wanted for Steven and Bethany. We headed up to Mousehold Heath in Norwich for a relaxed morning together, with the city stretching out below us and plenty of beautiful surroundings to explore.
A Beautiful Morning in Norwich
Mousehold Heath is one of those places that gives you plenty to work with without needing to overcomplicate things. The open landscape, woodland paths and views across Norwich create a really natural backdrop for photographs.
Rather than making the shoot feel overly posed, we kept things simple. Steven and Bethany could walk, talk, laugh and enjoy being together while we looked for those natural moments in between.
Getting Comfortable in Front of the Camera
For many couples, having professional photographs taken together before the wedding can be a little daunting at first. Knowing what to do with your hands, where to look and how to stand can feel surprisingly unnatural.
The good thing is that it doesn't take long to settle into it.
Once Steven and Bethany relaxed into the shoot, the photographs became much more about them and much less about the camera. We mixed a few gentle prompts with plenty of time for them simply to interact naturally.
Natural Moments, Not Just Posed Photographs
Some of our favourite photographs from a shoot aren't necessarily the ones where everything is perfectly posed.
It's the little moments — a laugh, a glance, walking together or simply the way two people naturally interact — that often tell the story much better.
That's what we wanted to capture with Steven and Bethany. Photographs that feel like them, rather than a collection of forced poses.
A Little Taste of What’s to Come
An engagement shoot is more than just another set of photographs. It's also a chance to spend some time together before the wedding and get a feel for how being photographed actually works.
By the end of the morning, Steven and Bethany were completely relaxed in front of the camera, which means they can head into their wedding day knowing exactly what to expect.
And if these photographs are anything to go by, their wedding day is going to be something pretty special.
Steven & Bethany
It was a pleasure spending the morning with Steven and Bethany and capturing this exciting chapter for them.
Mousehold Heath provided the setting, Norwich provided the backdrop, but ultimately these photographs are about the two of them — their connection, their laughter and the excitement of everything that's still to come.
We can't wait to see what their wedding day brings.
